How To Start A New Club

Starting a new club can be a lot of fun.  There are seven easy steps to follow:
  1. Identify a sport that is not currently offered as a Sport Club.
  2. Contact the Assistant Director of Recreational Programs (572-5728) to get a history of the club on our campus and fill out an “Intent to Register” form with the Department of Campus Recreation.  We will schedule a meeting to talk about it.
  3. Schedule and host an informational meeting (We’ll help!)
  4. Prepare a club constitution; see Student Organization Handbook for constitution guidelines.
  5. Fill out the appropriate paperwork to become a student organization with the Office of Student Life, UC 10 (572-6514).
  6. Turn in all completed paperwork and constitution to the Office of Student Life, UC 10 (572-6514) for approval.
  7. Once you are a registered student organization, contact the Assist. Director of Recreational Sports (572-5728) to fill out paperwork to become a Sport Club!

The success of a new club depends on the amount of organization and energy you are willing to dedicate. Your enthusiasm will make the difference! The key to starting a new club is identifying a core group of leaders to help share the load. Don’t try to do it all by yourself. By the time the club gets going, you’ll be burned out. Good luck!
